Course Outline
Today's Lighting - Best Practices
This course will dive into the new generation of lighting products and their respective applications from a 30,000 foot view. Lighting has a profound effect on how we structurally design our architectural space. These spaces include vertical markets such as commercial, healthcare, educational, industrial and hospitality to name a few. The newest polarizing lighting technology is the pervasive light emitting diode – LED. This course will apply best practice theory into our most common building design applications.

Net zero building design is being driven by Energy codes. In return the design community & their clients are capitalizing on positive environmental results. However, the perpetual changes in technology and code continues to test the limits of power density requirements. These challenges will be studied and solutions will be provided.

This course will deliver insight to lighting recommendations for various interior and exterior lighting applications. We will review benefits of both linear lighting & point source lighting and determine the best practice for your lighting application.

Key topics addressed in the seminar:
1. Application assessment
2. Standards - Energy Codes & IES
3. Lighting sources – New and Legacy
4. Best practices relative to your application
5. Lighting Trends – The future
